Scarf

Picture a beautiful silk scarf that has been wound tightly and stashed into a deep, dark chest of drawers. You had forgotten you put it there until one day the cold north wind blusters into your world. You scramble to find the scarf and finally you do and discover it is all balled up in knots. As you untangle the scarf it's delicate fabric unfolds, perhaps not as beautiful as it once was but still important and necessary to shelter and warm you from the chill air. You understand that a few flaws in this previously smooth and silky item does not detract from it's usefulness and beauty.

Today I accept myself as I truly am...I come out of the darkness of growing old...I won't allow myself to be hidden from the light...I appreciate the natural process of my aging body...I am committed to my inner unfolding as the person I am now...I stroke the wrinkles of living a life...and I celebrate that I am still useful, treasured, important, and worthy of love and attention.
