dappled through the thousands upon thousands of fragrant needles. I stopped in my tracks, in awe and wonder that I had been so fortunate to come upon this mighty tree. As I got closer, I began to smell the pungent odor of pine and rich earth, see the rivulets and wrinkles of its thick and multi-colored bark. I was excited and eager to get closer, really see, touch, smell the blessings of this wonder of nature. I continued to draw closer and soon I was enveloped in the cool shelter of its steadfast branches. I drew in a deep cleansing breath and sank to my knees in admiration and gratitude that my long long journey had taken me to such an amazing place. I lifted my face to the sky and saw golden rays of sunlight shimmering through the canopy of this mighty giant and I felt the warm rays raining down on my weary body. I felt an amazing sense of peace and joy and grace as I paid homage to this might being. All of a sudden I lifted my downcast eyes and caught a glimpse of a path that meandered around this majestic wonder of nature. I rose to my feet and took a few cautious steps toward this path. And to my wonder, there before me, was an entire forest of majestic Sequoias, standing tall, and straight, and strong...beckoning me to continue my journey, to experience all the wonders of this magical place. And so I tenderly touched my friend, said a heartfelt thank you and continued on my way, eagerly anticipating the wonders that each new specimen would bring.
So...I guess the moral of this story is that we must all be cautious that we don't miss seeing the entire forest because we get lost in just one tree.
