Thinking is the Key to the 21st Century
In this technological age, people are bombarded by raw data and information. It is important that our students are able to synthesize, analyze and evaluate this information. The emphasis of learning needs to focus on developing higher level thinking skills not just rote memorization. As a Board member I would work to develop curriculum that focuses on thinking skills. With technology at their fingertips all students can develop good thinking skills.
Technology needs to be readily available to all students. Technology is a powerful teaching tool. The internet provides quick access to information. Social media provides opportunities to quickly connect students with the world. Technology needs to be an integral part of every child’s education. Students also need to know how to manage technology and understand its strengths and weaknesses. As a Board member, I would work to insure all students have access to technology.
