As websites develop over the years, different military outfits get more and more data on aircraft, crews, ships, etc... Those of you who knew Gil Guiler, probably already knew he flew B-17's out of Deenethorpe, England, with the 612th Bomb Squadron, 401st Bomb Group. He told me how he flew a brand new B-17 across the Atlantic, only to have it taken away from him... and was given a war-weary Fortress, patched-up with beer cans ans bailing wire.
